Sheraton Hotels & Resorts has unveiled a new nutrition program called Color Your Plate to help travelers eat healthy meals when away from home.

Every item on the Color Your Plate menu is 500 calories or less, and is organized according to the Nutrition Color Code.

The Nutrition Color Code arranges food into six distinct color categories according to the benefits of those foods. For example, red foods (such as strawberries) “support heart and circulatory health”, while white foods (such as garlic) “enhance [the] immune system”.

Guests are encouraged to add items from three different colors to each meal in order to stay healthy.

The new Color Your Plate menus will be available in both Sheraton restaurants and in-room dining.  It is part of the chain’s Sheraton Fitness program and is already available at over 400 hotels worldwide.  Sheraton, Starwood’s largest brand in terms of the number of hotels, plans to roll this out to all of its properties in the future.
