Lufthansa is rolling out a new business-class cabin and the new seats will make their first appearance within a few weeks when Lufthansa places its first Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental into service.

The new cabin design, which replaces the almost ten-year-old PrivateBed seat, reclines a full 180° and expands to a 1.98-meter long bed.  All seats are forward facing, which addresses a key request from passengers, namely the wish to sit and face the direction of travel.

The new seats will be installed in a V-like configuration on the 747-800 where, on the upper deck, they will be in a 2-2 configuration.   Each pair of seats is angled towards the other in the shape of a “V,” joined together by a somewhat V-shaped table.

In some aircraft, the seats will be parallel but they will be angled towards the outer cabin wall.

The new business-class cabin also features a 15.4” display at each seat. Other details have not yet been released.
