Emirates Airline has begun the first direct flights between the Middle East and the Pacific Northwest, with service from Dubai to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Seattle is Emirates’ sixth U.S. gateway in the country, in addition to New York (JFK), Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, and Dallas/Fort Worth.

Emirates will use Boeing 777-300ER aircraft for this route.  It recently ordered 50 of them and the airline is the world’s largest 777 operator.

“Emirates has looked forward to the day when we would connect Seattle to our home hub in Dubai, on flights operated by state-of-the-art, Seattle-built aircraft,” said Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the airline’s CEO, in a written statement.

Emirates’ service from Seattle to Dubai provides for connections to many destinations in the area, including Bangalore, Bangkok, Chennai, Delhi, Doha, Kuwait, and Mumbai.
