Alaska Airlines has opened its new “airport of the future” at LAX’s Terminal 6. The newly renovated terminal features check-in kiosks and bag-check stations, which replace traditional ticket counters.

Alaska Airlines expects to reduce check-in wait times for customers with checked bags to less than four minutes (from 20 minutes), and about a minute for customers with carry-on luggage only.

Terminal 6 also features a new Board Room lounge, electrical outlets at half of the seats at departure gates, and new gate information displays. The Terminal was designed with energy-efficient water fixtures, lighting systems, and appliances.

Formerly located at Terminal 3, the move to Terminal 6 allows easier access to U.S. Customs and Border Protection checkpoints as well as Alaska Airlines partner Delta, located in Terminal 5.

Other Alaska Airlines “airport of the future” terminals are located in Anchorage and Seattle.
