Strike at Frankfurt Airport Monday to Result in 400+ Cancelled Flights

Following two relatively short work stoppages Thursday and Friday, the Union of Air Traffic Controllers (GdF), which also represents ground workers at Frankfurt Airport (FRA), announced plans for a 24-hour strike on Monday.

The labor action will begin at 5 a.m. CET.

The action is certain to lead to the cancellation of hundreds of flights and Fraport, the company that manages the airport, is advising passengers to contact their airlines “as soon as possible.”  Fraport estimates that at least 30% of flights, roughly 400, will be cancelled and many others will be delayed.

The GdF has been locked in a contractual dispute with Fraport for months after an arbitration panel ruled in favor of the union, a finding the company refused to accept.
