InterContinental Hotels Group unveiled Even Hotels, a brand that promotes fitness and health.

Even Hotels will focus on the health-conscious traveler and will help guests stay active and eat healthier meals during their stays.

Guest rooms will be designed to support in-room workouts with unique amenities such as a coat rack that doubles as a pull-up bar.  The hotel will offer individual and group exercise activities and individualized advice and instruction, all at no extra cost.

The hotel will offer guests menus that are based on fresh and natural ingredients.  In the morning, it will serve free coffee and mini-smoothies, and throughout the day it will offer flavored filtered water in refillable glass bottles.

Each guestroom will have Wi-Fi, multimedia ports, easy access to electrical outlets, and plentiful desk space.  In addition, the rooms will be designed with relaxation in mind. Amenities are to include hypoallergenic linens, natural lighting, and dimmer switches.

IHG is budgeting $150 million to support the venture by buying hotels and converting them to the Even brand.  It plans to open up as many as 100 Even Hotels in major U.S. cities, starting in early 2013.
