Fairmont Bab Al Bahr, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – Hotel Review
ROAD WARRIOR SUPPORT
The desk was well designed for international business travelers, with plenty of space for spreading out work, multiple outlets,
a wheeled, ergonomic chair, and several different types of electrical adapters in one of its compartments.
The Fairmont Bab Al Bahr has more than 26,000 square feet (2,500 square meters) of meeting and event space, including a ballroom and eight meeting rooms. The Gold Lounge is open 24 hours, and the ground-floor business center offers computer and Wi-Fi access, as well as secretarial and courier services.
The only aspect of the Gold Floor that made it feel not quite so fancy or business-like was that it smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, as it has a designated smoking area. (Smoking is permitted on floors 7 through 9 in public spaces and in guestrooms.)
The Fairmont Bab Al Bahr features separate men’s and women’s gyms, open 24 hours, a heated outdoor Olympic-size lap pool, a heated, covered children’s pool, and two private beaches. A complimentary shuttle bus will take guests to popular attractions including Sheikh Zayed Mosque, Ferrari World, and Marina Mall.
DINING
Fairmont Bab Al Bahr has many venues for business meals and meeting over drinks.
Dining options appealing to Western, Middle Eastern, and international palates include Marco Pierre White Steakhouse, Frankie’s Italian Restaurant and Bar, CuiSine Restaurant’s all-day dining, Poolside Restaurant, and Cedar Lebanese Restaurant and Lounge. (Guests can also puff on the flavored shisha or hubble-bubble water pipes at Cedar Lebanese Restaurant and Lounge.).
Al Naba’a Lounge offers an extensive tea menu, in addition to more potent libations, and Chameleon Lounge serves cocktails and wines. The Chocolate Gallery café delivers on the tantalizing promise of its name, with chocolate delights in many forms, including hot chocolate, cakes, candies, and more.
BOTTOM LINE
Small irritants such as the cigarette smoke aside, the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr provides many choices for entertaining clients and colleagues, and a comfortable, modern, well-supported outpost for the business traveler in Abu Dhabi.
Guests should be advised that certain services, including some provided in the Gold Floor Lounge and in the business center, will be limited during Ramadan.
