Finnair to Launch Helsinki – Chongqing, China Service in May
Finnair will start direct service from Helsinki to Chongqing, China in May of this year and announced
a contest celebrating the Chinese New Year and the new route. The winner will get two round-trip tickets to Chongqing, China’s largest city.
With a population of more than 32 million, Chongqing is also China’s fastest growing metropolis; its urban population is forecast to double over the next five years. Business travel to Chongqing is rapidly growing among companies in the automotive, chemical, and electronics sectors.
Chongqing’s Airport will be able to handle 45 million passengers yearly when its expansion is complete in 2015.
Starting in May, Finnair will fly the new route four times a week, using the Airbus A340 aircraft, with a flight time from Helsinki to Chongqing of eight and a half hours.
