Qatar Airways to Add Routes in Asia-Pacific, Middle East, Africa, and Europe
At the Dubai Air Show, Doha-based Qatar Airways announced that it plans to add new international routes in early 2012.
Destinations include Perth, Helsinki, Zagreb, Gassim in Saudi Arabia, Zanzibar in Tanzania, Kigaili in Rwanda, and Mombasa in Kenya.
In addition, flights to Baku, Azerbaijan and Tbilisi, Georgia are to begin February 1. Qatar Airways recently launched flights to Benghazi, Libya, and on November 28, 2011 is to begin service to Chongqing, China.
Qatar Airways has over $45 billion in aircraft on order, including 30 Boeing 787 Dreamliners and ten Airbus A380s. Qatar Airways will move its hub to the New Doha International Airport slated to open in 2012, which has been designed to handle 50 million passengers annually.
