American Express is offering select Platinum Card holders complimentary one-year membership in the US Airways Club.  The membership provides the cardholder with access to a total of over 250 lounges worldwide including US Airways Clubs, Continental’s Presidents Clubs, United’s Red Carpet Clubs, and Star Alliance lounges.  Other benefits include free wireless Internet access, snacks, and complimentary wine and beer.

According to Platinum cardholders who have received this benefit, American Express is offering it to select frequent flyers who have used their American Express Platinum card to purchase airfare on Continental or who transferred points from American Express’ Membership Rewards program to the Continental OnePass frequent flyer program.

In September of this year, United Continental ended its partnership with American Express and card holders were no longer able to transfer Membership Rewards points to a Continental OnePass account or gain access to United’s Red Carpet Clubs.

American Express Platinum and Centurion card holders can receive up to $200 back in credits LINK for incidental expenses such as airline lounge day fees, baggage fees, and in-flight food purchases at one pre-designated airline, including United Continental.  In the spring of this year, American Express introduced numerous new benefits for Platinum Card and Centurion Card holders.
