American Express announced a new transfer bonus to British Airways’s Executive Club frequent flyer program, which recently unveiled its new Avios points program.   The bonus, which is 30%, is being offered through January 31, 2012.  For every 1,000 points you transfer, you will receive 1,300 Avios.

For example, a round-trip business-class award ticket from New York JFK to London costs only 80,000 Avios or, with the bonus applied, 62,000 Membership Rewards points.  (You’ll even end up with 600 extra Avios since 62,000 MR points converts to 80,600 Avios.)  The same trip in first class costs only 120,000 Avios, or 93,000 MR points.

If you want to fly from New York to Munich, connecting in London, the flight in business class will cost 98,000 Avios, requiring 70,000 MR points.
