Hotel Palma Royal, Bocas Del Toro, Panama – Review

Despite the fact that I had no reservation, I was able to secure a room at the Hotel Palma Royal upon arrival.  As a matter of fact, check-in was easy.  The front-desk clerk was very pleasant and welcoming and spoke English (much to my relief).

My room, number 403, was on the top floor of the hotel and afforded a great view of the local harbor and my favorite local hangout, Super Gourmet (see What’s Doing In Bocas Del Toro ).

The Hotel Palma Royal’s rooms were quite spacious and decorated in bright colors.  Despite the great view, there was also a 36’’ flat screen television, not to mention several comfortable sitting options.  Best of all, there were large windows and a door that opened fully to let in the wonderful sea breeze. The bathrooms were solid stone and well appointed.  Bathing options included a rain shower.

The bed was comfortable and, most importantly, everything was ultra-clean, which is something that can be truly difficult to find in the Bocas Del Toro region.

A nice coffee setup was also provided with a fully automatic brewer, blade grinder, and fresh whole beans. I found it amazing that I can find an in-room coffee setup such as this in a remote region of the world but not in Los Angeles…

A tasty breakfast was included with the room and available daily between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m.

The Hotel Palma Royal is, in my opinion, is the best place to stay in all of Bocas Del Toro thanks to the amazing location, high quality standards, and excellent service. While other places on Isla Colon (the main island of Bocas Del Toro) will provide shelter and lodging, they are probably for the more adventurous sorts.
