As my driver pulled up to the Marriott London Marble Arch, I realized how centrally located it actually was. marblearch I found myself within walking distance to Oxford Street, Hyde Park, and the theaters in London’s West End.

My room was comfortable, airy, and spacious.  The bed was very comfortable and sported Marriott’s trademark bedding with excellent quality linens.  I was pleasantly pleased to find that an alarm clock was not in the room as it saved me the trouble of having to unplug and deactivate the last guest’s settings.  My wake-up call was placed by a person, not by a machine, but my requested wake-up call on day two never came.premierkingbedroom

My room had two outlets that used American-style plugs – great convenience as I was short one UK adapter.  A newspaper (The Times) was left hanging on my door in a newspaper pouch every morning.

Connecting to the Internet via Ethernet cable was a breeze but I was unable to connect to the hotel’s Wi-Fi system (the signal ranged from weak to non-existent).  The service costs £15 for 24 hours.

The hotel provides a comfortable desk chair and excellent lighting around the work area and the in-room safe is large enough for a laptop.lounge

The Executive Lounge, suitable for small impromptu meetings, offers variety of cold beverages at all times as well a coffee/espresso machine in addition to great views of the city.  Breakfast is served there in the morning; canapés and cocktails are offered in the evening, followed by dessert. WLAN access in the lounge is free.

The large breakfast buffet had just about everything one could want or imagine for starting the day; a chef prepared eggs and omelettes to order.  My lunch of fresh salmon was expertly prepared and delicious.

In general, the staff was very friendly service oriented and was able to address almost all of my needs.  The concierge was helpful with directions for public transportation but he couldn’t organize a taxi that would accept a credit card.  For business travelers with meetings in the area, the Marriott London Marble Arch is an excellent choice.
